Extension and refurbishment of the London Buddhist Centre
Potter & Holmes have completed work on the London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green. This is the culmination of a phased programme of extension and refurbishment of their site. The challenge of this Grade II listed building was met in eight phases of work in an occupied building. The work consisted of the conversion of the upper floors to house ten residents, a new reception area and a third shrine room with associated support spaces. The new reception area and bookshop including purpose made joinery designed by Potter & Holmes and this completes the entrance courtyard with a new atrium.
Potter & Holmes provided detailed design, specification advice and a contract administration service for the project having entered in to a partnering arrangement with other architects.
