The brief for our Kingsway project was to create a home that would meet the needs of family life with small children, while also creating spaces they can grow into as the children get older.

Our design focuses on creating a practical and sociable home by converting parts of the existing garage to add a much-needed utility boot room and to open up the existing entrance porch and hallway to create an inviting welcome into the home.

We’re creating a new extended kitchen and dining area which will seamlessly continue out into the garden. An eaves roof light will draw in natural light from above into the kitchen area, at the same time directing your view towards the garden. There are also large sliding doors and a brise soleil to provide shading from direct sunlight.

We’ll be replacing the uninsulated and tired-looking dormer with a modern zinc one with floor to ceiling sliding windows, with cladding between the windows in horizontal timber to soften the zinc. We’ve enlarged the existing dormer to create more usable space in the converted loft.
