This 2 bed single storey mews house sits within the curtilage of a Grade 2 listed building in a conservation area.

The site previously had been a garage, originally

Victorian stables. Potter & Holmes designed a mews style courtyard single storey house not overlooking adjacent houses and itself protected from overlooking. This was achieved by orientating doors and windows away from neighbouring sightlines.

The planning condition required the elevation to match the previous building so the design incorporated a timber louvered opening amongst London stock bricks. The pitched roof to living area gives a higher ceiling height and plenty of natural light. Dining niche allows zoning of open-plan living area, with windows to suit the change in height.

Underfloor heating maximises internal wall space in this compact building and the original small Victorian bricks were recycled in the paving to the courtyard. A richly textured sedum covers the roof which is a delight to overlook from neighbouring properties.
